Firefighting
Structural firefighting exposes crews to extreme heat, direct flames, hot surfaces, smoke, steam, and hazardous combustion products. Conditions can change rapidly, creating risks of severe burns, heat stress, reduced visibility, and physical injury.
Protective clothing must provide flame resistance, thermal insulation, durability, and mobility. Garments are commonly designed as a multi-layer system with an outer shell, moisture barrier, and thermal liner.
