Limited protection against liquid chemical splashes

Requirements & test methods

EN 13034 covers Type 6 and Type PB [6] clothing for limited protection against light sprays and small, low-pressure liquid splashes.

ISO 6530

Measures liquid run-off and penetration as percentages.

Minimum repellency: Class 3 for at least one specified chemical. Minimum penetration: Class 2 for at least one specified chemical.

Test liquids

Measures performance against each test liquid.

30% sulfuric acid, 10% sodium hydroxide, undiluted o-xylene and undiluted butan-1-ol, at 20 ± 2 °C.

Mechanical durability

Measures abrasion resistance in cycles and tear, tensile and puncture forces in N after conditioning.

Minimum Class 1 for each applicable property under EN 14325:2004.

Garment coverage and spray test

Checks seams, closures and the assembled garment.

Reduced spray testing applies to Type 6 garments.
