EN ISO 5077

Dimensional change after washing and drying

Requirements & test methods

ISO 5077 determines dimensional change in fabrics, garments and textile articles after specified washing and drying procedures.

Washing, drying and measurement

Measures marked distances before and after the specified washing and drying procedure and cycle count.

Length and width are measured separately; garment results identify each measuring position.

Dimensional change

Change (%) = ((Xt − Xo) / Xo) × 100. Xo: original distance; Xt: distance after treatment.

Negative: shrinkage. Positive: growth. Mean change rounded to the nearest 0.5%.
