EN ISO 13934

Tensile properties of fabrics

Requirements & test methods

ISO 13934-1 measures the maximum tensile force and elongation at maximum force using a strip specimen.

Strip specimen and gauge length

Strip width: 50 ± 0.5 mm, excluding fringe. Gauge length: 200 mm, or 100 mm when expected elongation at maximum force exceeds 75%.

Results identify fabric direction, dry or wet conditioning, width and gauge length.

Maximum force and elongation

A constant-rate-of-extension machine measures force and extension as the strip is pulled.

Maximum force in N; elongation in %, by fabric direction.
